Josie Marshall can=t believe her ears especially when her offer to help Michael, her childhood friend and ex-fiancé, results in a second marriage proposal from him. After working seven years abroad, Josie has come home on furlough to rest and reevaluate the next step in her life. Striking up a relationship with Michael again wasn=t even on her to-do list. Years earlier she had promised to marry him, but life had taken her down a different path. Being around her handsome next-door neighbor has stirred up feelings she thought were long dead. The more Josie is around Michael, the more she wonders if she didn=t make a horrible mistake leaving him so long ago. But no matter what she still feels for him, her days in town are numbered and in a few short weeks she=ll be going overseas again.
Michael Rawlins is desperate to do anything that will help him maintain custody of his cousin=s six-year-old daughter, Sharla. Michael has raised Sharla since her mother=s death, and he is the only father she has ever known. When Sharla=s biological father shows up and sues for custody, Michael resorts to desperate measures to keep her, even to the point of talking Josie Marshall into posing as his fiancée.
If the judge thought he was getting married, it might improve his chances of keeping Sharla. After all, it=s what their friends and families expect; everyone always said they made the perfect couple. However, being around Josie everyday is more difficult than Michael expected. Old feelings he thought were dead and buried are resurfacing. It had taken many years for him to get over the hurt of Josie choosing her job over marriage to him. There=s no way he=ll lose his heart to her for a second time. She=d just leave him like she did before.
With All Josie=s Heart is the struggle of two wounded hearts putting aside their differences for the sake of a child. Can Michael and Josie forgive each other for past hurts and discover what God has planned for them all along or will Josie run away again, leaving Michael grieving over his lost love for a second time?
I made a big mistake beginning this book at 10:30 pm. I had a very hard time putting it down and ended up getting very little sleep that night. Crystal Stovall has done a superb job of showing the struggle between two people who care for each other but refuse to admit it. With All Josie=s Heart is a definite book to have on your books-to-be-read list.
