Title: Wishing On Dandelions Author: Mary E. DeMuth Publisher: NavPress ISBN: 1-57683-953-2 Genre: Inspirational/Fiction
Mary E. DeMuth’s Wishing On Dandelions is the follow up to her Watching the Tree Limbs. Maranatha, a victim of childhood sexual abuse, is a teenager now and living with her uncle Zane. Life, if not quite perfect, is better, until her uncle has a stroke. Then Georgeanne Peach, who’s supposed to be caring for him, takes over and before Maranatha realizes what’s happening, she has fired Zady and talked Uncle Zane into marrying her.
Georgeanna wants to move to a better part of town and sell the old house that has come to mean home and security to Maranatha. Uncle Zane refuses to cross his new wife, and too many changes happen too fast, leaving Maranatha unsure of her future and struggling to hold onto her faith in God.
Mary E. DeMuth has a beautiful, almost lyrical writing style. Her characters are well defined and the story is compelling. If you liked Watching the Tree Limbs, you’ll want Wishing On Dandelions.
