Title: Windswept Weddings Author: Lena Nelson Dooley, Pamela Griffin, Rachel Hauck, and Lynette Sowell Publisher: Barbour ISBN: 1-59789-085-5 Genre: Inspirational/Contemporary/Romance A grim weather forecast could create four wedding-day disasters “Move a Mountain” by: Lena Nelson Dooley Everything is going perfectly for Christine Dailey's upcoming wedding. She's made lists and charts, making sure that every last detail are taken care of. Christopher Davis is eager for his wedding day, but is concerned that Christine relies more on her organizational skills than on the Lord. When the worst snowstorm of the decade hits, Christine worries that she may miss her own wedding. Can Christine learn that the Lord is in control and not she?
“Blown away by Love” by: Pamela Griffin Due to unforeseen circumstances, Dale Endicott missed his wedding twice. Now his fiancée, Marie, warns if he misses the wedding again, he's history. When his brother takes him searching for tornadoes on his wedding day, Dale worries he won't make it back in time to get married. Will Dale arrive in time for his wedding? Or is it three strikes and he's out? “Hurricane Allie” by: Rachel Hauck
Allie Seton has dreamed of having the perfect wedding, and now her plans have come to life. She's organized her wedding to the last detail, and is happy that everything has fallen perfectly in line. The Hurricane Allie—yes, the same name as her—blows in town. All Allie's carefully made plans are washed out to sea. Her fiancé, Kyle, is stuck in New York City, and everything at home is a mess. Can Allie learn that God may have better plans for her wedding than she does? “Hearts Refuge” by: Lynette Sowell
Krista Schmidt believes in second chances, and her upcoming wedding proves they do happen. But past events have shaken her, and she can’t help wondering if her fiancé, Luke Hanson, will leave her again. Luke’s best man has arrived and his snide jokes only reemphasize Krista’s insecurities. When a wildfire breaks out near their town, Krista wonders if the wedding will still be held. Is Krista’s faith strong enough to overcome her doubts and fears? When I first got Windswept Weddings, I wondered if a book with the heroes and heroines already together would hold my interest, since I’m a hopeless romantic, but it did. With its frazzled brides, consoling grooms and uncooperative weather, there’s plenty of conflict to drive the stories. The main characters must rely on their faith and each other to move past their doubts and concerns to make the best wedding day possible given the unusual circumstances they encounter. Toss is some humor to offset a snowstorm, tornado, hurricane, wildfire and frantic brides, and you have a well-rounded read that is sure to hold your interest and give a satisfying ending.
