Becca Baxter is stunned when her parents are tragically killed when they go to visit Becca’s grandmother. Becca suspects foul play. She assumes a false identity  and talks Max Duncan, her late cousin’s husband and a well-known author, to hire her as his assistant so she can go to her grandmother’s home and hopefully, find the truth behind her parents’ deaths.

Even though his wife was unfaithful, Max Duncan is still reeling from the death of his wife, and trying to recover from the suspicion that he might have been her murderer. When Becca applies for the job as his assistant, he is grateful for the help with research, especially when she promises a report she wrote for her Master’s degree.

Soon, it becomes apparent that Becca is more than she says. Why is the grandmother holing up with Becca in private discussions? Who is trying to kill Becca and why?

Windigo Twilight is a fantastic read. I fell in love with the characters and couldn’t wait to see what happened next. I thoroughly enjoyed the setting of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, and could almost envision the scenes.

My only complaint about Windigo Twilight is that it seemed a bit unrealistic that Becca could go home to a house full of cousins and other relatives and the only person who seems to recognize her is Becca’s grandmother. Otherwise, it is a great story. I am looking forward to the sequel Shadow Bones coming in November 2005. $4.99. 251 pages.
