Title: Why Christian Kids Rebel Author: Dr. Tim Kimmel Publisher: W Publishing Group ISBN: 0-8499-1830-8 Genre: Inspirational/Nonfiction/Parenting Tattoos, rap music, multiple piercings, and weird hair don’t necessarily mean your kids are bound for hell . . . or does it? In Why Christian Kids Rebel, Dr. Tim Kimmel explains what makes kids raised in Christian homes walk away from the faith of their fathers and why many never return. Dr. Kimmel teaches the clueless parent the difference between a prodigal and a teenager who is just stumbling toward adulthood, making some bad choices along the way and not showing rebellion. Truly rebellious kids tend to block God from their lives and push away from the family. If your child is showing signs of obstinate behavior, is aloof, lazy, stubborn, moody, and argumentative, you will learn how to differentiate the normal teenage attitude from a rebellious spirit and how to nip it in the bud before it takes the whole family on a whirlwind trip to destruction. Why Christian Kids Rebel is a book that isn’t easily read in one sitting. I had to read a page or two and then think about what I read before I read any further. There is some really good advice for parents within the covers of Why Christian Kids Rebel and discussion questions at the end of each chapter, which would make it a great book for small groups. I’m giving my copy to my minister husband as it is also a great book for a pastor’s personal library—I’m sure your pastor would appreciate a copy too. He will turn to it time and again while counseling parents who are wondering where they went wrong. $14.99. 256 pages. | |
