Title: Violet Dawn (Kanner Lake Series) Author: Brandilyn Collins Publisher: Zondervan ISBN: 0-310-25223-7 Genre: Inspirational/Mystery/Suspense
Paige Williams has sought sanctuary in the quiet tourist trap of Kanner Lake. With a past she would rather not discuss, and future too uncertain to talk about, Paige is viewed with a reserved friendliness by most of the town.
When she runs afoul of a retired movie-star with an acid tongue, Paige wonders if the black crow that has haunted her past has returned home to roost. And when Paige morbidly discovers Ms. Sans dead, in Paige’s hot-tub, she is almost certain of it.
But there is more than one skeleton in Paige’s closet, some that Paige herself has forgotten about. Will Paige live long enough to be accepted by the community? Purchase a copy of Violet Dawn to find out!
On the back cover of this latest book by Brandilyn Collins, she has inserted a rather unique phrase under her signature; “Seatbelt Suspense.” You might want to consider purchasing a Hans Device before climbing into this book!
Violet Dawn grabbed my interest from page one, and it never let me go. Even when you think you know “who done it,” and even when you know what is going to happen next, it’s too late. Ms. Collins has you for the duration.
Her craft has reached a new level. As she paints each scene, and introduces each character, and shifts from action to introspection in a manner which makes you as much a part of the book as the characters, you’ll experience the full range of emotions as a participant, not merely an innocent bystander.
And Ms. Collins lays the groundwork for a series (of many, I hope!) in such a manner that the reader will be waiting at their favorite bookstore on the day the next installment arrives. Brandilyn Collins, you’ve done it again! You won’t want to miss Violet Dawn. $12.99. 318 pages.
