Title: Vanished Author: Margaret Daley Publisher: Steeple Hill ISBN: 978-0-373-44241-6 Genre: Inspirational/Suspense
J.T. Logan, a former Chicago detective and current sheriff of Mercer County, had helped put away his share of criminal. Some of them had threatened retribution, but J.T. didn’t take it seriously until someone kidnapped Ashley, his eight-year old daughter. Now he has to find Ashley before it’s too late, be in control of the investigation, and still be available for Kim and Neil, his two older children.
Madison Spenser, F.B.I. Agent is assigned to the case. She’s worked with J.T. before, but never like this. As she watches him struggle to remain coldly professional, while dealing with anxiety over his daughter’s disappearance, she realizes her concern for him is more personal than it should be.
Having a child disappear is every parent’s nightmare, and Margaret Daley has captured the grief, the tension, and the overwhelming sense of helplessness that happens at a time like this. I always enjoy Margaret Daley’s romances, but her writing really shines in suspense books. Vanished is her best yet.
