Ben Hawthorne is a confirmed bachelor living in the wilds of Alaska. He loves the freedom his single lifestyle offers, and the only thing he needs is a cook. When he returns to his cabin one evening to find a lovely woman in his kitchen creating fragrant culinary delights, he thinks his life couldn)t be any more perfect. But his delight is short-lived when he realizes the woman is accompanied by a fussy baby.

Wendy Marbury is on a mission to deliver baby Troy to his guardian, Ben Hawthorne. She has cared for the darling boy since his parents' death a month ago, and she has grown to love him. After a harrowing trip to Alaska, Wendy is stunned to find out Ben didn't even know Troy existed, much less that he was Troy's guardian. The thought of leaving the little boy with this bear of a man was hard enough before, but now that she knows Ben hates children and doesn't want Troy, Wendy is at a loss for what to do. She knows in her heart God wants Ben and Troy to be together. But how does she convince Ben?

When her flight home is delayed repeatedly for different reasons, Wendy takes advantage of the opportunity to teach Ben to care for Troy. Ben's ineptness at caring for the tiny boy leaves Wendy crying from both laughter and concern. But gradually Ben adapts. When Wendy sends Ben and Troy on their first outing together, she sees this as her chance to make her get away. But as she leaves Ben's cozy cabin and walks to town, Wendy realizes that instead of leaving behind one person that she loves, she's leaving behind two.

I absolutely loved this book! The playful banter between Ben and Wendy had me laughing out loud and grinning throughout the whole book. Cathy Marie Hake has done a wonderful job of creating lovable characters with plenty of spirited conflict between them. I read this book in one sitting, staying up until the wee hours of the morning to finish it. Chocked full of humor, romance and heartfelt emotions, Unexpected Delivery is a definite addition to your books-to-be-read list.
