Title: Under Suspicion Author: Hannah Alexander Publisher: Love Inspired Suspense ISBN: 0-373-87377-8 Genre: Inspirational/Romantic/Suspense
When Shona Tremaine’s father is murdered in his own home, Shone becomes a prime suspect. After all, her father is a prominent senator, and she’s been groomed to take over his position when her father moves on to governor. Shona is one of the few to have access to her father’s mansion and to know the secrets the killer knew. Now only Shona’s estranged husband, Geoff, and her sister, Karah Lee, believe in Shona’s innocence.
Shona and Geoff work together to try and solve the murder mystery, and uncover a web of deceit and corruption in the Senator’s life. As Geoff and Shona become closer, they find themselves falling in love with each other all over again. But the killer is hot on Shona’s trail. Will they be able to find the truth in time to save Shona’s life?
Hannah Alexander weaves another intricately designed story based on the often confusing world of medicine in Under Suspicion. The book starts off with a bang on page one and it doesn’t let the reader go until the end. I usually am pretty good at figuring out who-dun-it, but there are plenty of red herrings in Under Suspicion and I was kept guessing until almost the end of the book.
Shona is a realistic character, a bit too much of a control-freak for my liking, but for someone with a career in politics, that is a necessity. Geoff is a loveable sweet hero, who is willing to put his estranged wife and her family before his own career at times. The faith message is expertly woven in. Discussion questions are included at the end, making this ideal for a reader’s group. There is also a preview included of Hannah Alexander’s next book, Grave Risk, coming in January 2007. $4.99. 247 pages. |
