The peaceful, lakeside town of Deep Haven is just what EMT Anne Lundstrom is looking for-a place of quiet beauty, and a place to hide from the nightmares of the inner city. The victim of a heinous assault by a drug-impaired gangbanger, Anne wants to put her past behind and start anew. Only she can't escape the psychological fear that's imbedded deeply inside her or the memory of the stranger who was her fortifying lifeline during her moments of terror.

Noah Standing Bear has a dream-to take inner city kids off the Minneapolis streets and bring them to God's country in the heart of the Minnesota wilds. The only thing he needs for final approval from his supporters is a nurse. When he meets Anne, Noah knows she's the answer to his prayers. With a little charm and gentle coercion, he gets Anne to reluctantly agree to help. Now if only God will bless the venture of a former gangbanger turned Christian, he might just be able to yank a few kids from Hell's grasp.

Working in a rural camp isn't what Anne had planned for her summer. But Noah, in spite of his huge, intimidating size, has a way of winding himself into her heart. How hard can it be to watch over a bunch of church kids and doctor their scrapes and poison ivy for the summer? At least being in the woods keeps her far away from the homeboys who nearly destroyed her life. Just maybe, she can get over her initial fear of Noah and get to know the charming man better. And maybe she can make peace with God, Who's she's been angry with ever since He failed to rescue her.

What happens when Anne's worst nightmares arrive alive and dangerous at her secluded hideaway? Can she face the demons of the past or will she run again? Can Anne forgive Noah for deceiving her? And what about the unknown stalker who is slowly closing in on Anne?

When I read Susan May Warren's first book, I couldn't believe how good it was, but Tying The Knot is even better. Mrs. Warren takes two characters with completely opposite goals and personalities and throws them together, forcing them to get to know each other and deal with their demons of the past. Noah is the perfect hero - handsome, brave, with a heart to help others, and yet he's vulnerable and often doubts his own abilities. Anne is a fireball determined to keep at bay the forces that wounded her before. If she ignores them, maybe they will leave her alone. Wrong!

Tying The Knot is a wonderful example of how Christians struggle when attracted to someone whose plans and goals don't align with the plans they feel God has for their own life. The romantic tension in Tying The Knot was awesome. I wanted so much for Noah and Anne to get together but there didn't seem any way possible for them to overcome the barriers separating them. The faith message is powerful but not overdone. This book is sure to touch the hearts of those who delve into its pages.

Tying The Knot is definitely one of the best books I've read this year. Loaded with tension, suspense and heart-rending romance, Tying The Knot is a must for your keeper shelf.
