Author: Jerry B. Jenkins

ISBN: 0-670-88176-7

Genre: Christmas

Noella Wright is a journalism professor, and she has long idolized Tom Douten, a well known reporter for the Chicago Tribune. But her attempts to get Tom to come speak to her classes have always failed. She called, emailed and finally in a last resort, she wrote him a letter in long hand. When he appears in her class one day to check her teaching style before he agrees to teach the class, Noella is smitten.

Tom Douten falls fast and hard for Noella, and even though he doesn’t think good writing can be taught, he agrees to speak to her class and tell his story, how he rose from nobody to a well-known writer with no education. Soon Tom and Noella are engaged to be married and everything looks like it will be “happy ever after”.

Then trouble comes. Tom is a typical bah-humbug type guy, believing Christmas is overrated. Noella firmly believes in Santa Claus – and this difference is tearing them apart! Noella announces she will not marry a man who doesn’t believe in Santa and gives Tom back his ring. Can Tom learn to believe in Santa? Or will Noella renounce her beliefs?

‘Twas the Night Before is a cute Christmas love story. I was instantly drawn into the story and couldn’t put it down. It was fascinating to see two people who love each other end a relationship over Santa. I couldn’t wait to see how they would resolve this difference.

I highly recommend ‘Twas the Night Before. The only complaint I have with this book is that there is no mention of the Christian reason for celebrating – the whole story was centered around Santa, and whether or not he exists. This title is out-of-print, but it is readily available used on Amazon. $19.95. 209 pages.
