Title: True Valor Genre: Inspirational/Comtemporary/Romantic/Suspense Lieutenant Grace Yates has spent her deployment catapulting off the deck of the USS George Washington in an F/A-18 Hornet. A self-assured naval aviator, she is flying to keep the peace while being ready for war. Major Bruce Stanton, Air Force Pararescue Jumper, has been pulling pilots and Special Forces soldiers from behind enemy lines for twelve years. Bruce knows Grace is too good a pilot not to draw the tough flight assignments. She is on the front lines. If she gets into trouble, his unit would get the call. With demanding jobs, deployed to different locations, they keep their relationship alive by writing letters. In the face of danger, they both lean on the truth that God is sufficient no matter what the circumstances. When a dogfight erupts and her plane is damaged, Grace is determined not to become the first woman pilot shot down behind enemy lines. Babying her broken plane homeward, she fights the necessity to eject. Her best efforts thwarted, her fighter jet plummets down. And now Bruce has one mission: get Grace out alive. True Valor is a lot more military than Dee's first book in this series, and I found it very hard to get into this story. On the other hand, my husband, who is a former Naval Hospital Corpsman stationed with the Marines, read it twice while I struggled through the first reading. Steve said it is very true to military life. The story is set in a very volatile area and so I found it very realistic. Steve is now reading this book for the third time, so I am going to recommend it highly, especially if you are former military or interested in military life. The romantic tension between Grace and Bruce is great. | |
