Title: Though the Vision Tarry: Waiting for My Promised Mate

Author: Aleathea Dupree

Publisher: Dathea Publishing

ISBN: 0-971-22400-5

Genre: Nonfiction/Marriage

In the book of Genesis, God said it was not good for man to be alone. So Eve joined Adam and it was good in God’s sight.

We were all created with a need for relationships, with the ultimate fulfillment of “oneness” being marriage. Yet sadly, the Christian community is failing to enjoy the blessings of this holy union. Divorce among Christians is common and many hearts and homes are broken.

Aleathea Dupree has written a powerful book about her own spiritual journey as she waited for God to fulfill His promise to her and provide her with a mate. This book provides a wonderfully clear example on how to humbly wait and yield to God’s perfect direction. Anyone contemplating marriage would be blessed by the message of this book. And even if you’ve been happily married for years, this book will remind you of God’s desire to see His children fulfilled and walking in the light of His Word.

The story in this book is hard to read at times. Ms. Dupree shares her spiritual journey and leaves nothing hidden. She has a refreshing honest style of writing, which reads more like a conversation among friends. She recounts the story of her failed marriage, her doubts, anger and eventually the receiving of God’s promise. Yet in all of this, the author continually praises the Almighty God and brings Him glory as her story unfolds. It’s as if there is a doxology on each and every page!

Ms. Dupree is a woman of prayer and a woman of the Word. Her discoveries in the Scripture concerning marriage and divorce are all founded on three principles which she set forth in the book: “God does not lie, God does not change and God’s Word is true”.

While the title of this book refers to an unmarried person learning to wait for God’s choice of a mate, the scope of the book is much larger. The author reminds all of us that God is willing and able to enter into our lives and heal the hurts, reveal His plans, and cause them to be fulfilled for His glory and our joy.
