Title: The Thomas Kinkade Story (A 20-Year Chronology of the Artist)

Author: Thomas Kinkade and Rick Barnett

Publisher: Bulfinch Press

ISBN: 0-8212-6179-7

Genre: Nonfiction/Autobiography

Thomas Kinkade is America’s favorite artist—and the most collected. His mass appeal comes from his unique ability to bring simple pleasures to life.

Now available in paperback form, The Thomas Kinkade Story celebrates the 20th anniversary of Kinkade’s first published artwork and includes a comprehensive look at the artist’s lifestyle and paintings.  Each period in Kinkade’s career is examined – starting with his humble beginnings when he is mentored. Readers are introduced to friends who will later influence his work.

The story continues through the 1990s as Kinkade paints ground-breaking scenes in California. Kinkade then progresses to English cottages and the use of soft light and broken color. Finally, his most recent works are celebrated.

The Thomas Kinkade Story offers an intimate look at Thomas Kinkade’s artistic and personal development, following the growth of both his career and family life.  Never before seen private photographs and paintings are found in the book, and it also includes new works that embody Kinkade’s twenty-first century style.

I enjoyed reading the story of one our favorite artists and having a coffee-table style book full of his artwork to look at anytime we like. Many of our family’s favorite paintings are included in this book. There isn’t a whole lot of text reading in this copy; rather, it is mostly copies of Kinkade’s paintings.

Any fan of Kinkade will love The Thomas Kinkade Story and it will make a great collector’s book for the artist or fan alike.
