Title:
This Time Around Genre: Inspirational/Romance Journalist Sammie Jones has a problem. Or, more accurately, two problems. Her former boyfriend, R. J. Butler has just become her boss at "Romantic Living" magazine and he wants to win her heart again. But struggling with the aftermath of her late husband's abuse and betrayal, Sammie's only desire is to create a safe haven for herself and her son, Brett. When it turns out the birds Sammie bought are not the best pet for her toddler son, Sammie returns them to the pet store hoping a puppy would make life easier for herself and keep her son happy. But the puppy develops problems within hours of bringing it home. Sammy takes it to a vet close to her place of employment and accidentally discovers a bag of white powder in the exam room she was taken to. Suspicious by the vets explanation of the powder, Sammie decides to investigate and finds herself lured into a world of murder, madness, and greed. Not sure how to handle the situation, she turns to R. J. for comfort and advice. In R. J.'s company, Sammy's heart begins to heal. But when the painful past erupts into the present, she faces the hardest decision of all. R. J. has long regretted his decision to walk away from his previous engagement to Sammy. When he found out she planned to marry Adam, he begged her to reconsider and to come back to him. But the damage had already been done and Sammy refused his offer. All he could do was to offer support and pray for her as he watched her become a shell of her former self. When Adam dies, R. J. is quick to step in and offer his assistance, but Sammy fights him every step of the way. The only reason he agreed to take the position of editor of his parents' magazine was to be near Sammy. But soon he finds out that the office is full of spies reporting everything back to his parents. An emergency at the boys' ranch he runs in Arkansas causes R.J. to be out of the state when Sammy's life erupts out of control. Can he trust God to see her through this ordeal? And would Sammy ever be able to trust another man enough to fall in love? Even though this book is sixth in the Seven Sisters Series, Debra White Smith wove a fascinating tale that can easily stand alone. This book grabbed my interest from page one and was impossible to put down until I was finished. I highly recommend this book and the series. |
