Title: Terror On Kamikaze Run Author: Sigmund Brouwer Publisher: Bethany House Publishers ISBN: 0-7642-2573-1 Genre: Inspirational/Juvenile/Fiction
Ricky Kidd helps his friend, Lisa, with her aunt’s small adult foster home. When Lisa’s aunt is out grocery shopping, a salesman shows up and attempts to con the older folks out of their money. Ricky and Lisa are successful in running the salesman off, but the next day the police shows up to question Ricky about the salesman. They manage to track him down, and out of gratitude, one of the elderly residents offers Ricky and his friends an all-expense-paid skiing vacation in Colorado. The only catch is: they need to find out why the resident’s brother, the owner of the ski resort, is concealing mysterious happenings when he talks to his sister—happenings that have been the subject of a three page magazine article.
The article mentions something about a ghost, a coal miner’s daughter, who was left at the bottom of a mine to die. Legend has it that when she appears, the next day something terrible happens. The very night that Ricky and his friends check in, one of the lodge buildings is set on fire. Who is trying to destroy the lodge and why?
Determined to discover the truth, Ricky comes up with a bold plan. Searching for the person who’s behind the accidents doesn’t seem that dangerous. After all, what could possibly go wrong?
Terror On Kamikaze Run is an interesting read which grabbed my attention on page one and the fast, action-filled pages made it a quick read. I like the fun-loving kids and found myself cheering for them as they faced an unknown enemy. Ricky acts just like my own eleven-year-old son, full of bravado and big ideas.
Pick up Terror On Kamikaze Run for your favorite pre-teen today. Even though it is the tenth book in the Accidental Detectives series, it easily stands alone.
