Genre: Inspirational/Mystery

When the body of a retired rail yard worker is discovered on the tracks near his home, detectives are called in to investigate, even though local authorities believe the death to be accidental. Detective, “Mac” McAllister and his new partner, Dana Bennett, suspect the worst. And it seems their suspicious are confirmed when they discover a complicated web of conspiracies and cover-ups that surround the case.

Mac’s personal life is also as tangled. He still has a crush on Dana that he can’t seem to move beyond—and when he starts dating other women he finds he’s more confused than ever. Can he trust God to reveal the answers for both the case and his heart?

Terminal 9 is the third book in the McAllister Files series. I didn’t read the first two in the series, but even-so, Terminal 9 easily stands alone. Terminal 9 starts out with a bang, with griping excitement that grabs the reader’s attention. Unfortunately, the attention isn’t held. The excitement comes to a screeching halt while the reader is forced to endure school boy thoughts about Mac’s crush on Dana and his childish desire to hurt her by starting to date other women.

Characterization really isn’t great in this book. I never did connect with Mac, Dana, or the other characters. The mystery though is not bad. It took me awhile to figure out what happened and who-dun-it. There are plenty of red herrings. If you enjoy mysteries and don’t particularly care how you get from the beginning to the end, give Terminal 9  a try. Otherwise, you might be better off finding a different book as Terminal 9 doesn’t deliver what it seems to promise. $13.99. 334 pages.
