Title: Wish I’d Known You Tears Ago Author: Stephen Bly Publisher: Broadman and Holman ISBN: 0-8054-3173-X Genre: Inspirational/Contemporary/Fiction
School teacher Develyn Worrell has come to the end of her summer vacation in the spot of her childhood dreams. Over the short months, she has become comfortable with life, and being who God made her. But when her daughter, Delaney comes for a visit carrying more than just her luggage, Dev’s world is thrown into upheaval once again.
A lightning-triggered explosion levels the cabin the women are staying in, and sets off a chain of events that promises more adventure than Dev was prepared to deal with. When a dear friend has a heart attack, and a stranger shows up with a penchant for trouble, Dev shows what she’s truly made of.
The dialogue is snappy, funny, and insightful. I got a real feel for each of the characters and wished I could step into the book and join in the fun.
Wish I’d Known You Tears Ago is book three of the Horse Dreams series, and I’m eager to read Memories of A Dirt Road Town, and Mustang Breaker.
This latest tale from my favorite cowboy writer is a real winner and I laughed heartily through much of the book. When my teenage son demanded to know what was so funny, I read a few paragraphs aloud. He doubled up on the couch and laughed so hard he couldn’t catch his breath.
If you want a fun read, be sure to pick up Wish I’d Known You Tears Ago and the rest of the Horse Dreams series.
