Title: Sooner or Later Author: Vickie McDonough Publisher: Heartsong Presents ISBN: 1-59310-850-8 Genre: Inspirational/Historical Romance Rebekah’s mother has always told her that, “Sooner or later, a handsome man will sweep you off your feet.” But that doesn’t seem to be true. Rebekah’s mother is dead and her step-father, a man she believed to be her real pa until recently, has just sold her off to another man for a side of beef. Feeling her life is over, Rebekah doesn’t know what else to do. She takes her mother’s ancient horse and an equally ancient carpet bag and starts off on her own. Mason Danfield is headed West to find his brother-in-law. Mason’s wife and sister are dead, and now his motherless niece and nephew need to go to their father. But where in the Oklahoma Territory will he find Jake? Is he in Tulsa as his last letter indicated, or will they find him at a land run they hear rumors about? And what happens when Rebekah’s and Mason’s paths cross? Will they be able to help each other heal? Vickie McDonough has a unique writing style that is sure to draw the reader in. Her strong story descriptions will have the reader seeing the wind blowing over the prairie grasses or a tornado twisting toward the lone covered wagon. Readers will laugh at some of the events in the story. Rebekah is a loveable heroine and Mason a loveable hero. The children are a wonderful addition to the story, helping it to come alive. I loved little Katie. She is a precocious three-year-old, and I just wanted to pull her in my arms and hug her tight. Readers will not be disappointed by Sooner or Later. 170 pages. $4.95. | |
