Joel Montgomery didn’t want to ever go home to Refuge, Illinois. He’d left down as soon has he could, vowing never to return. But he can’t resist the wishes of a dying boy who wants to meet his very own hometown hero. So Joel reluctantly agrees to face his demons and arranges to para-jump down on the school grounds where the boy attends classes.

Amber Stanton is Bradley’s teacher, and she loves the little boy who’s dying of cancer. In fact, another of his dying wishes is that he could have a family, and Amber really wants to make that happen for Bradley—somehow.

Joel is completely swept off his feet when he meets the beautiful Amber, and the little boy, Bradley, wins his heart. Will Joel be the complete answer of prayer for little Bradley?

A Soldier's Promise is the debut novel by Cheryl Wyatt, and it is a winner. Filled with military action, romance, and a precious child, it has something for just about everyone. Joel is a kind hero, even if he doesn’t care to face his past, and Amber a nice heroine. The faith message is not preachy.
