Title: So Help Me God Authors: Roy Moore with John Perry Publisher: Broadman & Holman ISBN: 084004311-2 Genre: Inspirational/Nonfiction Chief Justice Roy Clark Moore has come under fire by the UCLA for displaying the Ten Commandments, not once, but twice. In addition, he made National news when he refused to obey an unlawful order of a federal court. Chief Justice Roy Moore maintains at the government must acknowledge the God upon which America’s moral values were founded and that it is constitutional and ethical to do so. However, during the last half century, federal judges have misconstrued the concept of separation of church and state, and contributing to the depleting of the moral fiber of our nation. So Help Me God is the story of Chief Justice Moore and gives the reasons why he did what he did and took the stances that made the news. But in order to understand the whys of what happened and how it came to be, the reader has to start at the beginning of the story. Back when Moore was a newborn, in the heart of the South, northern Alabama. Why was Moore’s upbringing important to this story? Let’s turn the page and find out. So Help Me God is an interesting read about a news-story I remember well. I, as well as millions of other Christians, applauded Chief Justice Moore and prayed that the country would support its Christian values and allow the Ten Commandments to remain, yet knowing beyond a shadow of a doubt that wrong will prevail, since I’ve seen the news coverage. It was a sad day when Chief Justice Clark was removed from office and the Ten Commandments locked away, out of public sight. I enjoyed reading the story behind the scenes and highly recommend So Help Me God if you are interested in what really happened—and not just what was reported on the news. Hardcover $24.99. 275 pages. |
