The two men who killed Emma St. James brother, intended to kill her too. She managed to escape by hiding in the deep woods surrounding the cabin. They were closing in on her when she ran out into the highway, right into the pat of a speeding car.
Reverend Colin Fitzpatrick, driver of the car, didn’t know who the young woman was, but she was obviously in trouble. Since it was his car that hit her, he feels responsible for her safety. Together Colin and Emma try to unravel the mystery surrounding her brother’s death. Unfortunately they are contending with ruthless men, determined to kill Emma before she can discover their identity.
Margaret Daley knows how to build suspense, keeping the reader guessing. Colin and Emma are likable and believable. The conflict is strong. Thrown in an aunt who is an ex-army officer, teaches self-defense, and bakes chocolate chip cookies in her spare time, and you have the ingredients for a thoroughly enjoyable story. |
