Elizabeth Dunning is determined to find gold and strike it rich. She’s known poverty and back-breaking work her whole life, and she needs the gold to make life better for herself. If Noah won’t take her, she’ll find someone else who will.
When Noah discovers that Elizabeth has left for the gold fields, he knows he must go after her. She has no clue the danger she’s in. Noah has realized that he loves Elizabeth, and he can’t risk losing her. But with a rough man from her past on Elizabeth’s trail, can Noah find her in time? Will Elizabeth stay alive long enough for him to save her?
Snow Angel is Jamie Carie’s debut novel, but it doesn’t read like one. The story starts with an intense scene and never lets up in excitement. Elizabeth is determined, if not sometimes foolish, in her quest to get gold and doesn’t mind risking her life to achieve her goal. Noah is a great hero. He’s a gentle, kind man of God, but is thrown for a loop when feisty Elizabeth storms in and quickly steals his heart. Ms. Carie’s vivid descriptions of the Alaskan wilderness and the rugged trail to the gold fields will have you believing you are there.
Snow Angel is a truly engaging story, but there are several scenes that some inspirational readers may find offensive. While Noah is a Christian and relies on the Lord, the spiritual theme found in most Christian fiction novels is less obvious in Snow Angel. There are brief scenes of Elizabeth’s mother before her daughter was ripped from her arms in the prologue. Letters from the detective she hired to find Elizabeth run throughout the story as a subplot and add intrigue as the detective finally draws close to his prey. Elizabeth believes that nobody can ever love her, yet Noah is determined to prove that God’s love and his own defy all odds. Snow Angel is the fascinating tale of a single-minded young woman who will stop at nothing to achieve her goal, even if it means giving up the only man who has ever loved her.
