From cruising in a snazzy convertible along the beautiful coastline, relaxing in their wildly decorated room watching the incredible sunsets, to drinking fruity concoctions while lazing in the sun, Hope and Laurie renew their friendship and have fun in the process. But fun isn’t all they discover. Could it be that God has his own birthday gift for them?
Sisterchicks Do the Hula! is a fun, quirky story. It made me miss my best friend from junior high and had me wanting to reconnect with her. Hope and Laurie’s characters are great. I love how they compliment each other. When one is down, the other pulls her out of her funk. Though one is wealthy and the other isn’t, it doesn’t matter—they are simply friends. Even though they’d been separated for decades, they picked up where they left off. As Hope travels down a road of spiritual discovery she takes Laurie with her.
The exquisite scenery descriptions made me feel as if I were right there with these two sisterchicks. Robin Jones Gunn provides a smorgasbord of information about the Hawaiian culture. The faith message is woven in like a delicate floral lei, wrapping itself around the reader with its fragrant message. Readers are certain to walk away richer from having spent time with this book. Witty, profound, and just delightful, Sisterchicks Do the Hula! is sure to leave you smiling and feeling like you’ve sat on the beach with God. | |
