Title: Silly Shoe Vol. 2: Seeing the Message Clearer Author: A.M.A. Watkins Publisher: Ink Publishing ISBN: 1-4134-4729-5 Genre: Illustrated/Nonfiction
Silly Shoe: Volume 2 is a unique book that has the potential to bring long-lasting benefits to readers. Its uplifting message will help believers see themselves more clearly in the Light of God’s Word.
On the way to a praise-a-thon, Mr. Wee gets distracted and lost. He misunderstands this situation but eventually sees things more clearly. The theme is “overcoming self” and although the message appears simple on the surface, it’s a difficult lesson to master. This short illustrated book helps to make this teaching memorable to readers.
Author A.M.A Watkins gets praise from this reviewer for writing and illustrating a book for adults that makes Bible truths easy to grasp. Being sensitive to the varying reading levels of adults, as well as the differences in the depth of their Christian walk, the author has written an easy to read book with a bite-sized portion of Scriptural teaching. By making the message understandable and approachable in these ways, she has removed barriers that some adult believers may struggle against.
The illustrations are delightful and should make readers smile. The characters are colorfully and creatively depicted. On the back cover of the book, the author provides Scripture references for terms such as conviction, prayer and repentance.
Although this book was written for the adult believer, a younger audience would also appreciate it.
Silly Shoe: Volume 2 helps to make the truth from Scripture more accessible to adult Christians regardless of their reading level. It’s one author’s way of going out into the world and preaching the Gospel to every person. |
