Sara Watson has a busy day planned, with no time for goofing. She doesn’t take the time to call the police when she notices her car windows are broken into. Instead, she calls her husband (who is in a meeting), her babysitter, and heads home to make a few phone calls. But the phone is unplugged, and the cord is missing—at least until it shows up wrapped around her neck. Someone is trying to kill her! But Sara is determined not to go down without a fight…

Scott is stunned when he gets home from work and finds his house in disarray, his wife missing, and his wife’s cousin, Claire, almost frantic. The police are called, but there are few clues to go on, other than some threats Sara’s senator uncle has received. The FBI and the local police are both on the job and the nearby Indian Reservation is also involved with some tribal customs and leather pouches come into play. Will they find Sara before she’s killed?

She Who Watches is book four in The McAllister Files series. This is the second book in the series I had opportunity to read, and it easily stands alone. The police office on duty, Mac McAllister is a main character and there is a lot of police procedure in She Who Watches which is explained in vivid detail. I loved the story, it held my interest all the way through. My only complaint is that Mac seems a little woman crazy, and can’t decide between his partner, or another officer, his affections wishy-washy.

Otherwise, the action in She Who Watches is extraordinary. The characters are well-developed, and there are some unexpected twists in the plot. The faith message is expertly woven in. Suspense readers will not want to miss She Who Watches. $13.99. 300 pages.
