Title:
Romance on the Rails and Terri Reed Publisher: Barbour ISBN: 1-586-60296-9 Genre: Inspirational/Historical/Romance Romance on the Rails is an interesting anthology of four novellas, all about falling in love while traveling by train. “In Daddy’s Girl,” Wanda E. Brunstetter, wove an enchanting story. Glenna Moore is a gambler's daughter, who travels from place to place with her father, hopping a train whenever he gets caught cheating and his life is threatened. But what is Glenna to do when her father jumps off a moving train to escape from his would be murderers leaving her behind? “A Heart’s Dream,” written by Birdie L. Etchison, is about Charlotte Lansing. When Charlotte's grandfather dies, she finds herself alone with no home and no way of caring for her little brother. An offer of a home and job from a cousin seems an answer to prayer. But as she nears her destination, a change of plans beckons. Can she trust her instincts? Jane LaMunyon wrote “The Tender Branch”?a moving story about Mary Sherwood who has been estranged from her father for over thirteen years. When her father calls for her, Mary doesn't want to go. She finally agrees to meet the man she believes abandoned her, but she doesn't want to develop a relationship with him. Can she find lasting love while getting to know her father and learn the real story behind his disappearance? Terri Reed is the author of “Perfect Love.” It has been a year and Evelyn Giles is tired of waiting for her fiancé to earn his fortune and return to marry her. People are starting to talk. As she travels across California, she develops feelings for an employee of the railroad. But what will happen when she reaches her destination? Will her fiancée do the right thing and marry her? Or will he leave her to return home alone and explain his disappearance to everyone? And what about the man she met on the rails? Romance on the Rails is well-written and is a great summer read. It will fit perfectly in a tote to take to the beach. I recommend it. Each story is unique and will hold your interest to the end. | |
