Title: The Rise of the Wyrm Lord Author: Wayne Thomas Batson Publisher: Tommy Nelson ISBN: 1400307376 Genre: Inspirational/Fantasy
Aidan Thomas has been made a knight in the service of King Eliam, noble ruler of Alleble. He’s back home now, barred from returning to The Realm. King Eliam sometimes calls individuals to The Realm for a special purpose, but they can only come once.
The first day of school Aidan meets Antoinette Reed, who, like Aidan, is a believer. When they get better acquainted, he realizes King Eilam is calling Antoinette to The Realm. Ainda gives her a task; find his friend Robby’s Glimpse, who serves the Prince of Darkness and win him over to serve King Eliam.
When Antoinette crosses over into The Realm she discovers Paragor, the Prince of Darkness, is waging a war against good King Eliam of Alleble. Called to be the twelfth knight, Antoinette finds herself on the front lines of the battle. As the knights ride to Yewland, their first battle, Antoinette must make an important decision. Will she follow the commands of King Eliam, or will she keep her promise to Aidan?
The Rise of the Wyrm Lord, book two in The Door Within Trilogy, is just as good as book one. Antoinette is brave, true hearted, and more than a little stubborn, a heroine worthy to be one of the twelve. As evil is unleashed on The Realm by the rise of the Wyrm Lord, who has been imprisoned under the lake of fire, we see a true picture of the battle between good and evil for the hearts of men. This is fantasy fiction at its best and I highly recommend it for anyone, young or old, who enjoys this genre. And if you’ve never read fantasy then this is a good place to start.
