Title: Renovating Becky Miller Author: Sharon Hinck Publisher: Bethany House ISBN: 10-0-7642-0130-1 Genre: Inspirational/Contemporary/Fiction
Becky Miller is back, and busier than ever. She is a full time wife and mom, works in her church, and if that isn’t enough, her mother-in-law comes to stay. Becky and Kevin, her husband, are looking for a house in the country. They find a fixer-upper, with the emphasis on fixing, but it was in their price range.
Kevin seems to have something on his mind, but he won’t talk about it. Mother-in-law Rose is the Queen of Put-downs. The church wants Becky to work full time, and her kids are high-wired. A weaker woman would crumble under the pressure, but not the Christian answer to Superwoman. She is Becky Miller. She can handle it. Or can she?
As usual, Sharon Hinck tickles our funny bone while getting her point across. Renovating Becky Miller is a laugh out loud story about a down-to earth woman having trouble doing it all. Like most of us, she eventually discovers that no matter how hard we try, perfection isn’t one of the ingredients we come equipped with. If we could do it all on our own, then we wouldn’t need God. As Becky points out, sometimes the best renovation is an “inside job.” Another good story in the Becky Miller series.
