Kathryn Jennings has been married to Larson for ten years now. Her marriage has turned out less than ideal, but she’s determined to stick with Larson, even though she is growing increasingly dissatisfied.

When Larson rides out to check the north pasture, he tells his wife he’ll be home by the end of the week. But time passes, and he fails to return home. After a significant snowfall, Kathryn fears him dead.

Determined to keep the ranch, Kathryn does everything in her power to keep the ranch hands. But they move on to neighboring ranches. Kathryn wishes she could turn back time and love her husband for who he was, and not who she wished he would be. Is it possible that Larson survives the winter storms—or is Kathryn’s fears that he’s dead true?

Rekindled is the debut book by new author Tamera Alexander. It is well-written and interesting, though I did have some questions as I read through as to why a character would act a certain way. And I felt some strands of the story line were left dangling, without closure.

The faith message is expertly woven in, and over-all the characterization is good. I wasn’t disappointed in Rekindled and am looking forward to reading more books by this author in the future. $12.99. 334 pages.
