Genre: Inspirational/Suspense

Keri Mahoney fell in love with Justin Kramer when they were just children, but the death of Justin’s parents separated them. They tearfully promise to re-unite someday, but now, eight years later, things have changed.

Police officer, Keri, is shocked when she learns Justin is wanted for murdering his wife. The teenaged Justin she knew and loved would never be capable of such a heinous act. When she meets Justin on a secluded, ice-covered road, Keri is cautious since people do change.

Justin works at a mission and tries to make a difference in people’s lives. But just like that, everything he’s worked for is gone. Two people came forward to testify that he left the mission sometime during the night that his wife was killed. And the one person who can tell the truth has disappeared.

When Keri and Justin spend time together, their love rekindles quickly. But it is overshadowed by knowing that a warrant may soon be issued for his arrest. Will Justin be able to learn the truth before he’s convicted for a crime he didn’t commit? Who is setting him up, and why?

Reasonable Doubt is Tracey V. Bateman’s first suspense novel. It is the also the first book in the Mahoney Sisters series. Keri is an adorable character, feisty and spunky, yet she has a tender heart. Justin is a sweetheart of a man, kind and caring.

I couldn’t put Reasonable Doubt down. I was anxious to see who-dun-it. Even though I guessed who might be behind the crime early, the doubt cast upon certain other characters kept the pages turning. I highly recommend Reasonable Doubt and am anxiously awaiting the second in the series Suspicion of Guilt, available September 2005 $4.99. 240 pages.
