Jonna Lightfoot MacLaughlin is the new religion reporter for the New Orleans Banner. Single and looking, Jonna meets Reginald William Hancock the Third,or Renn, as he’s called. He’s the best looking man she’s ever seen, with eyes as rich and warm as a pool of chocolate sauce.

Jonna’s co-worker, Rufus Ezekiel Denton, or RED, has an aunt in His Manor, a local assisted living residence for older people. Jonna falls in love with the residents and wants to write a good story about the manor. However, city politicians want to tear down the manor and build a casino in its place. Battle lines are forming and Jonna is caught in the middle. In addition, a local voo-doo woman has threatened to put a gris-gris curse on her.

New Orleans is like another world to a girl from Colorado, but Jonna learns to love the city and its citizens. Can a group of elderly people and a fired up reporter fight city hall? A riveting story with lovable characters and a strong faith message, Jonna Lightfoot MacLaughlin isn’t your usual heroine. She’s spunky, stubborn, and willing to stand up for what she believes, even if it gets her in trouble, which it usually does. Another good story in the Lightfoot trilogy
