Title: The Prisoner's Wife Author: Susan Page Davis Publisher: Heartsong Presents ISBN: 1-59789-462-1 Genre: Inspirational/Historical/Romance
Jack Hunter is in trouble. Arrested for the murder of his neighbor, he is in prison, expecting to die by hanging. Jack is innocent, but no one will listen. He has always loved Lucy Hamblin, but Isaac Hunter’s son was not an acceptable suitor for the daughter of Thomas Hamblin. Denied the love of their hearts, neither Jack nor Lucy ever married.
Now Jack is slated to die, and his property will be confiscated. Desperate save what he’s worked so hard for, Jack asks Lucy to marry him, knowing she will inherit his property. When she agrees, the wedding takes place in a cold, dark, prison cell. But then the charges against Jack are dismissed and the prisoner is freed. Bound together by a wedding ceremony, Jack and Lucy aren’t sure what to do now.
In The Prisoner’s Wife, Susan Page Davis has written an story of desperation and faith, and of a love too strong to die. Plenty of twists and turns in this one.
