The Gate to the Assembly and Ancient Earth has been destroyed and Farholme is isolated from the rest of the Made Worlds. Merral Stefan D’Avanos is now Commander of Farholme’s military force, something they hadn’t needed before evil invaded their world. It would take forty years for a message to reach them from the Assembly, fifty years for a ship to reach them.
The citizens of Farholme have never known evil. Never had a police force or needed one. Perhaps Merral’s greatest task is convincing them the threat is real. But there are too many changes to ignore. Unruly gangs prowl the streets, people become ambitious, puffed with pride. Some people are even afraid of death, an unheard of emotion on Farholme.
The more I read about Farholme, the more I recognize a portrait of the earth on which I live. Satan was alive and well on the Made World and he walks back and forth through the earth, wrecking havoc and turmoil.
The Power of the Night is the continuing saga of the people who live in the Made World of Farholme. I recognized several of my favorite characters from the first book. Fast paced action, strange creatures, and heroic characters. It’s all here in The Power of the Night.
