Title: Paper Moon Author: Linda Windsor Publisher: WestBow Press ISBN: 0-7852-6062-5 Genre: Inspirational/Contemporary/Romance
Workaholic Blaine Madison is under pressure to close a deal he's been working on for months. But when his mother falls and can't go on a school tour to Mexico with his daughter, Karen, he must fill in as chaperone. Right from the start, Blaine finds himself paired off with the cute, frizzy-headed mother of Karen's best friend, Annie. Miz C, as the kids call her, is everything he isn't. Caroline is lively, funny, and has a deep, effervescent belief in God, while he's boring, work-focused, and has lost faith in the God who allowed his wife to die.
Caroline Spencer is mortified. From the moment she meets Karen's handsome father, things have gone wrong. The man must think she's a total dunce. Still, she can't help being attracted to the dad who chases the boys away from his pretty daughter with a mad-dog fury.
As their tour continues, Caroline and Blaine keep ending up together. Under the enchanting atmosphere of Old Mexico, they soon grow moon-eyed like a couple of teenagers who've just discovered their first love. But when Karen and Annie disappear and evidence comes to light of their involvement with a smuggling ring, Caroline finds her faith hard-pressed in the face of Blaine's anger. Can their budding romance weather the trials put before them?
Once again Linda Windsor delights readers with her humor and vivid storytelling. Paper Moon is the charming tale of two harried parents thrown in with a group of hormone-raging teens for a school trip. There are plenty of humorous moments that will have you laughing out loud and even groaning at times.
Ms. Windsor beautifully paints a mural of the sights, sounds, and culture of Mexico. Readers will laugh along with Caroline's zany antics. They will empathize with Blaine, a father who's lost touch with his teenage daughter. And they will delight to watch two lonely souls as they begin to realize the depth of their feelings for each other.
Paper Moon, the first book in the Moonstruck Series, will not disappoint. Page after page is filled with Ms. Windsor’s unique humor, an engaging romance, and a compelling faith message. Be on the watch for Paper Moon, a book you'll definitely want to read. |
