Title: Out of The Shadows
Author: Sigmund Brouwer
Publisher: Tyndale House Publishers

ISBN:0-842-33037-2

Genre: Inspirational/Thriller

Out of the Shadows tells the story of Nick Barret, a lonely, sometimes bitter man. Haunted by glimpses of childhood memories, Nick begins a quest of discovery. He is desperate to find his mother, or any information leading to the truth of her disappearance.

When Nick returns to his childhood town of Charleston he is confronted with a series of dark evil events. The people responsible for burying information in shallow graves of selfishness and greed do not want Nick to know and will do anything to stop him.

Lies, guilt and lives lived in cool dark shadows bring misery, sorrow, and eventually death. Without preaching and with graceful simplicity, Brouwer rings all shadows with the only truth that really matters: Jesus Christ.

Out of the Shadows is a tight-paced psychological thriller. As the tale of Nick's journey unfolds, action is swift and on target. When I reluctantly reached the last surprise turn, I closed the book and caught my breath.

Recommendation: Read this book when you have plenty of time and in the plain light of day. Once you start, you will not want to put it down until you have reached the completely WOW ending.

On the back cover of, Out of the Shadows, is a quote by author Randy Alcorn: "Sigmund Brouwer really knows how to tell a great story." This is an absolute truth. Out of the Shadows is a top ten read for 2002. I will be looking for more from gifted storyteller, Sigmund Brouwer.
