Title: Norah’s Ark Author: Judy Baer Publisher: Steeple Hill Café ISBN: 0373785666 Genre: Inspirational/Romance
Nora Kent loves animals. Actually, that’s an understatement. A lot of people love animals, but where Nora’s concerned, a lot of people like Rick Haley thinks she overdoes it. She runs a pet store named, what else, Norah’s Ark. As if that weren’t enough, she has a mynah bird, named Asia Mynah, of course, a parrot, named Winky, Hoppy, her Flemish Giant rabbit, and Bently, a black and white dog, part beagle, part Staffordshire terrier, and a little pit bull. Bently is a neurotic basket case and is afraid of everything and everyone, except Norah, whom he adores.
Norah collects people too. There’s Lilly, who owns The Fashion Diva Shop, and who is attracted to Connor, a rich playboy who has eyes only for Norah. There’s elderly Auntie Lou, who owns the antique shop, and considers Norah her daughter. Joe, who wants to marry Norah, and last, but not least, Rick, a mounted policeman with a beautiful horse named Sergeant Thunder. Too many people depending on Norah, but she just needs someone to be there for her.
Norah’s Ark is packed full of quirky characters caught in wacky situations. Judy Baer has a delicious sense of the ridiculous that will keep you chuckling and turning pages. As Norah struggles with her faith, the reader will recognize the common problems we all face, and Bently, the pup, will steal a dog lover’s heart. You’ll like this one.
