Title: The Noble Fugitive Authors: T. Davis Bunn and Isabella Bunn Publisher: Bethany House ISBN: 0-7642-2859-5 Genre: Inspirational/Historical/Fiction Serafina is the daughter of a powerful Venetian counselor, and she is in love with a man named Luca. Desperate to be with her beloved, yet forbidden to do so by her parents, Serafina comes up with several elaborate plans to escape her parents to be with her lover. Finally, after barricading Serafina in her room fails, her parents put her on a ship to America. But Serafina escapes that. John Falconer has seen more than most, and he has a death sentence placed on his head. Desperate to get some secret documents he’s carrying to England during hurricane season in America, John is forced to keep moving along the east coast north to keep the bounty hunters from killing him. When John and Serafina meet, sparks fly. Will they be able to get past their differences and start a future together? The Noble Fugitive is the third book in the Heirs of Acadia series. Readers will want to read the first two books in the series first as this book plays upon events in previous books. I had a bit of trouble identifying with Serafina as she seemed bound and determined to defy her parents at every turn. John is a lovable hero, kind and caring to others even while running for his life. The Noble Fugitive for a read that won’t disappoint. Also watch for the next book in the series The Night Angel coming in the fall of 2006. 313 pages. $12.99. |
