Genre: Inspirational/Contemporary Fiction
Thirty-something Wade Sullivan thought love had passed him by until he
meets Starr and her three young children. Before long, wedding plans are
being made, and Wade and Starr are happily remodeling his old ranch house
into a home for their family. Then tragedy strikes, and Wade is left alone
to care for the children.
As he stumbles along, grief-stricken and terribly missing Starr, he must
mask his pain and care for Starr's children-now his children. Life isn't
easy for a middle-aged man turned father overnight. His job suffers, but
the children are adapting and helping the stabbing ache in his heart to
heal.
Then their biological father suddenly appears, wanting his kids. Wade has
no intention of turning the three youngsters over to the man who hasn't
seen them in years-a man who viciously beat their mother on many
occasions. As the fight ensues, Wade realizes for the first time that he
could actually lose his kids. Dee Thackery, a kind social worker, seems to
be his only ally.
Wade wonders if his life will ever be whole again. Just how much can one
man take? And where is God in this whole sordid nightmare?
Deborah Raney's latest novel, A Nest of Sparrows, is the wonderful,
heart-tugging story of a man willing to do anything for the kids he
loves-kids that aren't even his biological children. It's a deeply
touching story of love lost and found. As the book says, blood is thicker
than water, but love is thicker than blood.
Wade is a great hero. My heart ached for him on many occasions. His
steadfast love and dedication to Starr's children is inspiring. Emotions
run deep in A Nest of Sparrows, so be sure to keep a box of tissues
handy as you quickly turn the compelling pages. You'll need them for your
sad and happy tears. A Nest of Sparrows is a shining example of how
things can look their darkest and yet God is still in
control and will work things out in the end, if we only have faith and
believe. A A Nest of Sparrows is a must-read and would make a great
movie. Hallmark are you listening?
