Anne Wyndham awakens to a fire destroying her home and hard-earned lawn care business. Barely escaping from the third-story window of her house, she drops down on the roof of her attached business and immediately faints. Brock Cameron, unable to sleep, is wandering the streets in the wee hours of the morning. Seeing Anne jump, he hurries to her rescue.

Things are not as they seem. Brock Cameron is living a lie. He came to deliver bad news of Anne’s uncle’s apparent suicide. Manager of Uncle James lumber business, he has a personal interest in the property. Brock takes Anne home to her uncle’s estate so she can take care of his business. But things are so confusing! Who are Stu and Betty Green and why are they insisting that Anne should sell the lumber business to them? Why does her uncle’s suicide feel so wrong? Could it be murder? And if so, who did it? Why? Several attempts are made on Anne’s life as she tries to unravel the mystery.

Murder In Maine is in intriguing read. As the cooler days of autumn fill the air, this is the book to curl up with in the porch swing while you enjoy a hot glass of cider. Anne and Brock are well-developed characters that the reader will quickly come to care about. While there are some unbelievable things happening, most of the story is realistic. The head-hopping in the book was a distraction. I found myself in the dog’s point of view a couple times. Overall, Murder In Maine was a satisfying read. I never guessed who did it until it was revealed in the story. Pick it up now. While the price is a bit steep, mystery lovers will not be disappointed.
