Title: Mistaken for the Mob Author: Ginny Aiken Publisher: Love Inspired Suspense ISBN: 0-373-87378-6 Genre: Inspirational/Romantic/Suspense
Maryanne Wellborn is a quiet Philadelphia librarian. Her father has recently moved into a retirement home, and Maryanne has taken upon herself to make sure the dear residence of the home are supplied with library books.
FBI agent J.Z. Prophet is on the trail of a killer. He’s convinced that Maryanne is sending orders to a hit man somewhere, due to the emails he’s intercepted. Terminate So and So. And within a few days, that person turns up dead. Apparently of natural causes, but J. Z. Prophet isn’t fooled. Maryanne is a murderer as sure as he’s alive and breathing and he’s going to bring her down.
J. Z.’s partner is convinced that J. Z. is barking up the wrong tree, but he can’t convince J. Z. But then the real mob gets involved… and Maryanne is the target. Will J. Z. be able to find the real killer before it’s too late?
Mistaken for the Mob is a funny suspense story that held my interest all the way through. There isn’t much of a faith message, but the story is interesting and well-told. J. Z. is a bear of a man, growling and quick to jump to conclusions. Maryanne, in true librarian fashion, is quiet and understated…at least until she makes a new friend. Then she comes out of her drab shell.
I enjoyed reading Mistaken for the Mob and recommend it for those who like romantic suspense and those that love humor in their stories. It is a bit contrived in spots, but that doesn’t take away from the story. Discussion questions are included at the end. $4.99. 247 pages.
