Title: A Merry Little Christmas Authors: Catherine Palmer and Jillian Hart Publisher: Steeple Hill ISBN: 0-373-78571-2 Genre: Inspirational/Romance
In Unto Us A Child by Catherine Palmer—Dr. Lara Crane is desperate for student housing for international students. When a traditional student comes in and offers the use of his family’s guest house, Lara jumps at the chance. Jeremiah Maddox is the owner of the guest house, and not so thrilled with his son’s insistence that a foreign family move in. He allows Lara to bully him into letting this family into his guest house, and falls for the woman who turns his life up-side-down. Will he be able to win Lara’s heart?
In Christmas, Don’t Be Late by Jillian Hart—Amanda Richards’ car has broken down, leaving her stranded during a snowstorm with a sick baby and her son. With no choice but to walk, Amanda gathers her children and starts out. Soon Colt Nichols comes by and takes Amanda and her family home. When Amanda’s young son believes he’s really Santa, Colt wants to grant the boy’s Christmas wish—but what can he do when the wishes are that his baby sister gets well and that his mom isn’t sad anymore?
A Merry Little Christmas is a lighthearted holiday read good at Christmas, and anytime of the year that you want a dose of good cheer. The characters are interesting, and the storylines held my interest. I did feel Unto Us A Child is a little contrived, but all in all, both stories are well done.
The faith message is expertly woven into both stories, and the settings are realistic. The authors did a great job with these shorter novellas. They are great for a quick read and a short escape from the pressures of the real world. Pick up your copy today. $16.95. 331 pages. |
