Title: Meeting Her Match Author: Debra Clopton Publisher: Love Inspired ISBN: 0373874383 Genre: Inspirational/Contemporary/Romance Release Date: June 2007
Sheri Marsh is desperate. She needs to get away from the Mule Hollow Matchmakers, and the only way she can figure to make them leave her alone is for her to have a pretend boyfriend. And it has to be someone believable. Someone the matchmakers would believe would be a perfect match for Sheri, and yet someone who has the same goals as Sheri. Top priority: He’ll want his freedom as much as needs hers.
Pace Gentry is new in Mule Hollow. He’s moved there to start his own business breaking broncos. He’s from Idaho, and he really hated the idea of leaving his solitary life in Idaho for a bustling Texas community, but he believes God has lead him to do so.
From the beginning Sheri and Pace butt heads. When Sheri proposes that they pretend to be dating to get the matchmakers to leave her alone, he refuses, because it would be dishonest. Sheri has a few tricks up her sleeve though. Will Sheri fool the matchmakers, or will she find herself lassoed by love?
Meeting Her Match is the fifth book in The Mule Hollow series, and I think it’s my personal favorite. Pace is arrogant, cocky, and oh-so-loveable, a real male. Sheri is sarcastic and creative, a shy girl forced out of her shell and now comfortable in her new role.
I enjoyed reading Meeting Her Match. The faith message is expertly woven in, and is not intrusive. The characters and setting are realistic, and the plot is great. Fans of The Mule Hollow series will not want to miss Meeting Her Match. Also be on the lookout for Operation: Married by Christmas coming in October 2007. Discussion questions are included at the end of Meeting Her Match. $5.50. 247 pages.
