Title: Maggie Come Lately Author: Michelle Buckman Publisher: NavPress/Think ISBN 978-60006-082-3 Genre: Inspirational/Teen/Fiction
Maggie didn’t really know what it was like to be a regular teenager. For most of her life she’d taken care of her father and two younger brothers, doing housework, laundry, and cooking. She’s not popular at school, because she doesn’t have time to make the effort to fit in. Then her father brings company to dinner, a woman. It’s obvious he and Andrea are attracted to each other.
The boys don’t seem to care, but Maggie is furious. Andrea is outgoing, confident, bossy, and she’s taking over, rearranging the furniture, criticizing the way they live, making unwanted fashion suggestions, and suddenly Maggie feels left out. Nothing seems right anymore. Even the neighbors seem strange, and danger stalks the woods. Maggie who has been used to doing everything discovers she needs help. But who can she trust?
Maggie Came Lately is a moving story about a young girl, not sure where she fits in, and struggling to make a place for herself. Like all of us, Maggie eventually discovers God never intended for us to do everything on our own. He’s there, waiting to help.
