Title: Lucky Author: Staci Stallings Publisher: Spirit Light Publishing ISBN: 1847281524 Genre: Inspirational/Contemporary/Romance
Five years ago, Kalin Lane was chasing his dream in Nashville. But drugs and fast women caused his world to crash down around him. When his visa ran out, Kalin had no choice but to return home to Canada. There he got his life straightened out, and now he’s back in Nashville, trying to regain the ground he’s lost.
Danae Scott has planned her marriage to Brandt forever. They grew up together and it’s been understood that they would marry. Danae never had any doubts—at least until the night Brandt’s sister got married, and Danae found Brandt in a room having sex with another bridesmaid. When Brandt leaves Danae stranded at the wedding, Kalin is kind enough to give her a ride home.
Now 150 miles separate Kalin and Danae, but neither can forget the other. One night changed everything, including the course their lives were taking. Will Danae and Kalin find each other—and true love? Or will their choices take them in different directions.
I’ve read some of Staci Stallings earlier works that she published free on the internet, but Lucky is the first book I’ve read of hers in print. It is the second book in The Harmony Series but it easily stands alone. Staci’s writing has definitely improved over the years, and this one is good.
Kalin and Danae become real, and I hoped that they would be able to rise above the people and things that drag them down into the pit. Lucky does get a bit preachy in spots, but it isn’t bad, and sometimes the truths shared reach out and touch the heart of the reader. I’m looking forward to reading more by this author. You can find this book at www.amazon.com. $17.95. 326 pages.
