Title: Loving Promises Author: Gail Gaymer Martin Publisher: Steeple Hill ISBN: 0-373-87301-8 Genre: Inspirational/Romance
Single mom, Bev Miller is struggling to keep her two boisterous children in hand after her husband’s untimely death. She is preparing for her mother to move in with her for a time, and is a little worried about how she will adjust to having two adult women in the same household.
Businessman Dale Levin has never wanted to get married and dislikes children. He goes home to Loving, Michigan, to visit his ailing mother and to encourage his father to institutionalize her. He is frustrated when his father refuses to listen to reason.
Sparks fly when Bev and Dale meet for the first time and over time, they decide they might as well become friends since they keep being thrown together. Will Dale get over his aversion to children and allow himself to fall in love with Bev?
Bev seems like a realistic type heroine. She loves her children and reacts like a mother bear when others find fault with them. Dale isn’t used to children or to keeping his opinion to himself, so Bev and Dale are instantly at odds. I don’t appreciate the way Dale whines even when he gets what he wants.
Loving Promises is a sweet romance about two polar opposites attracted to each other. The two children add a nice touch to a formula romance.
