Gracie Lee Harris didn’t kill her husband—even though she had reason to. After all, he swindled her out of thirty thousand dollars and caused her to leave her home state of Missouri and her only son and move to California to live with his mother! Gracie Lee didn’t exactly get along with her mother-in-law, Edna, but what else could she do?

When her husband Dennis is run off the road and hospitalized in a coma, Gracie Lee has nowhere to go and no one to turn to, except a book store employee, Lynette, who immediately takes Gracie Lee under her wings and invites her to a support group for emotionally overwhelmed women. There Gracie Lee meets Heather—who is pregnant with Dennis’s child and wondering where her fiancé had disappeared to. Gracie Lee is shocked by the knowledge that Dennis had a pregnant girlfriend—and Heather equally shocked by Gracie Lee, but oddly enough, the two women become friends.

When the hospital calls to say that Dennis is waking up, Gracie Lee and Heather join Edna and Dennis’s grown-daughter (by another woman) in the waiting room. Needless to say, the situation is volatile, and Gracie Lee makes her escape to calm her nerves. When she returns, Dennis is dead.

It soon becomes apparent that who ever killed Dennis was actually trying to kill Gracie Lee and further attempts on her life is made. Gracie Lee tries to trust the detective handling the case, but he doesn’t seem to be moving fast enough to suit her. Can she discover who the killer is before she is killed? Or will she end up having to trust the detective with her life?

Love the Sinner is a unique mystery full of twists and turns. I fell in love with Gracie Lee; she is a remarkable woman who is able to take the twists life hands her. I hoped that the killer would be found before Gracie Lee became another victim.

I carried Love the Sinner in the diaper bag to read in snatches at the pool, but it soon became apparent that this wasn’t the book to read that way. I couldn’t wait to find out what happened next! I ended up reading late into the night to find out who the killer was and the motive.

I highly recommend Love the Sinner. You will keep the pages turning in this book. I’m looking forward to reading more by Lynn Bulock in the future. Pick Love the Sinner up today. $12.95. 247 pages.
