A Locket For Maggie by Carole Gift Page might be number six in the Heartland Memories series, but it stands alone as it follows Maggie Herrick's coming of age in the 1960's.

For Maggie, life had been safe and predictable until the Vietnam war touched her family. While her sweetheart Jordan Barrett serves as a fighter pilot, her teenage brother Jon Knowl rebels in protest against the overseas conflict. With heart-wrenching reality, we experience the Barrett and Herrick families' grief when Jordan's plane is shot down and he's presumed dead. Losing Jordan leaves a big gap in both families.

To assuage their sorrow, Maggie and Chad, Jordan's younger brother, travel to California to search for runaway Jon Knowl in an adventure that changes their lives.

The questioning and seeking atmosphere of the 60's is shown through Maggie and Chad's eyes when they renew their spiritual commitment as they spend time with the "Jesus People." These times cause another change: Chad becomes more to Maggie than just Jordan's little brother, and Chad emerges from Jordan's shadow at last.

When Jordan returns, which man will Maggie meet at the altar? The reader will not be disappointed with the resolution that keeps one guessing until the very end.
