Title: Little Brown Shoes Author: Shannon Young Publisher: Publish America ISBN: 1-4137-0860-9 Genre: Children/Fiction
What does a new pair of shoes mean to you? You might be excited at first, then not really care. But that’s not the case for one little, rich girl named Cassandra, who wants a pair of red saddle shoes from Jeremiah’s Shoe Store more then anything else. Instead, she gets a pair of little brown shoes.
Little Brown Shoes is the only pair left in Jeremiah’s shoe store in Cassandra’s size. He feels that his life is going to be miserable because Cassandra has threatened to throw him away as soon as she gets her wish.
All this changes though, when one day at school, their the teacher pairs Cassandra with a poor girl living at the children’s refuge, for an English report. The little girl only has a worn out pair of shoes. What she wants more than anything is a new pair of shoes.
Will Cassandra finally understand there are more important things other than what she always wants? Or is Little Brown Shoes headed for the town dump? I hope you will read this unique story about friendship and patience.
I liked this book because the author showed the entire story from the viewpoint of a pair of shoes. This book is creative, cute, and teaches good morals! I also enjoyed the illustrations, because they made the story come to life! While aimed at the younger crowd, kids of all ages will love Little Brown Shoes ! |
