When Brian Fisher was just six years old, he found a baby wolf caught in the cold steel teeth of a trap. As he tried to rescue the wolf, the mama came to protect her pup—but oddly enough, she seemed to recognize that Brian was just saving her baby from certain death.

Brian has never forgotten the wolf pup, and now that he is twelve, he desperately longs to know that the wolf is still safe—especially since he learns that there are men out in the woods who are killing the wolves. A Native American friend tells Brian that the wolf and he are like brothers since Brian had saved the wolf’s life and that the wolf is always watching him. Brian likes the idea of that, but how can he prove it’s true? And how can he convince everyone else that the wolf really exists and wasn’t a figment of his imagination—or was it?

Legend of the White Wolf is a really good story with several “aw” moments. It gets scary in parts and then it gets very sweet. I couldn’t put this book down; I wanted to see what happens next. The only thing I didn’t like is that the ending of the book is a bit sad. This is definitely my favorite book in the Tweener Press Series because it’s about wolves, which are my favorite animal. Still, I think it will appeal to any eight-to-twelve-year-old. $10.95. 118 pages.
